what up y'all,it's time for another installment of what I've been told is hands down the greatest/most exciting blog in the universe...so cancel your plans,strap yourselves in and enjoy what will probably be the highlight of the night..are you ready? Lets go!!!!

OK,so recording has finally started for the new album...in the past we used to record right after we finished a track but this time around we decided to write everything first,then record...although I can't remember why but anyway,it all worked out because while writing,we were able to fulfill the first part of a short term goal of ours...purchasing new gear to step up our live performances...we copped a new laptop and serato...personally when I first heard about serato I wasn't too impressed by it...in fact I was a bit anti serato...the few times I had seen it in action were by dj's who either didn't have the right set up to power it(causing it to crash mid performance)or just weren't utilizing it in a creative way...we got our first chance to use it during a show in Ohio a few months back and it totally changed my opinion of it...we were able to do things we previously couldn't accomplish and overall it just made performing a hell of alot smoother...
So we saved our green guys and slowly bought our set up piece by piece...a demonstration at Docjeezys crib showed us the investment was well worth it...not only would we have more control over our sound and song transitions,but it would also change the way we would record...so blah blah blah what I'm really trying to say is that this investment is going to make the new album as well as our live show that much better...hmmm I suppose I could have skipped all that and just said "hey we got serato and shit is alot better now"...

We gave it a test run this past Saturday at the Irish centre for an event called "Tween wave pool party" and shit got ripped despite the usual drama that goes along with performing...no p.a.,having to switch areas to perform,time slots getting pushed back,some assclown "dj" starting shit with Dr Jones mid set,the pigs showing up,etc...anyway,the crowd was great and we did our thang...shout out to the fourth LM member Cash for showing up to support and hold things down!
Speaking of the Doctor,here's some huge news...in December he'll be a guest on Rob Swift's radio show...expect Docjeezy to be cutting it up fresh as always...more details on that tba...

what up kids? Due to my laptop suffering from a totally non porn related virus,I've been unable to get online but I'm back in effect so lets get to the ultra exciting adventure filled update of all things Lucid...
Besides saving blind orphans from burning buildings and rescuing puppies,we've just been laying low trying to finish this damn album.We're close to wrapping up the writing part...I think we got about 2 or 3 more songs to knock out before we start recording,which shouldn't take long.Oh yeah,I guess we'll have to decide on what to name these songs at some point.We have an idea about releasing one of these as of yet unnamed joints for a single which should be forthcoming around August or September and since we've recently acquired a video camera hopefully there will be a video to go along with it.Not sure if we'll be dropping the new ish via bombhiphop.com or our own little label( aha!! that's right,I said it!! more info tba) but regardless,it will be available on itunes and in Marcus's backpack when you see us.
We have reached the halfway point in copping some new equipment to step our live show up so until then,we're taking a break from performing but we do have a few obligations we are hella excited to fulfill in the meantime.August 6th@the Irish Centre for an event called Tween Wave( settle down,the name is from a south park episode).Thanks to everybody who came out to Where its at pt 2 which was also at the Irish Centre on April 16Th.The rave crowd seemed to dig us and that was easily our biggest audience so far.Theres some footage floating around youtube and on our fb page...this time around,Tween Wave will be a pool party so yeah,its going to be a good time.more details tba...also September 10Th we'll be getting down and sharing the stage with the legendary Dj Qbert ( aw yeah!!).Definitely more details tba announced about that one! Stay tuned...
Also, Dr.Jones aka docjeezy will be dropping an instrumental ep for the price of on the house soon.You know how he gets down production wise so expect some heat...different from what he's known for as far as LM style of production but equally as ill.That's right,He steps outside the box...suckas take notes...actually all you dilla biting ass motherfuckers take notes.And just when you thought it was safe to half ass the skills and call yourself a Dj,Docjeezy will also be a contributing editor on Rob Swifts' upcoming website as well as hosting his own show on Skratcher.ca..yep.I'll give you the lowdown about all that in the very near future when I get more info myself...

Wise words from my main man Yoda...If only Luke had listened and finished his training,dammit...anyway,what up y'all? So April 2ND at Gooski's we got down and opened for our friends Triangle & Rhino at their album release and honestly,it couldn't have gone any better...it was a great night and we got to see a handful of old friends we hadn't seen in awhile....for me it was one of those nights that i wished would never end...eventually it did but not before Gooski's backroom got ripped if I do say so myself...everybody performing pulled out some heat and kept a full crowd entertained...when we do a pgh show,this is how we like it done...low key spot,old friends,new faces and a night of comrades sharing the stage...rj myato set it off with a 40 second noise set then it was our turn...last time at gooskis' it was just myself and Marcus performing with T&R but this time all 3 Lucid Mechanics were in the house...we pulled out some new unheard stuff and had no tech problems(always a plus)... next up was White Guilt,a collective made up of a few bands such as Dreadnots,Dirty Faces and Rob blow...Eric and Terry killed it as usual...then T&R got down and I'm glad they pulled out "roller skating bear", a lucid music favorite and not just because there's a dope break towards the songs end that we want to sample...those guys are OG's of the local scene and they always put on a good show...there was another band that got added to the bill last minute and played ( sorry I can't remember the name) but we broke out before they closed the night but overall,we had a good time...got footage,rocked the spot,Wendy actually talked to me( not a big deal but it seemed so at the time...then again I just quoted the empire strikes back so that should give you some insight on what constitutes a"big deal" to me)...thanks to everybody who came through and to Lexso and Matt for including us..
Next show in pgh is April 16TH THIS SATURDAY..."Where its at 2" at the Irish centre...featuring us,Blockhead,Ill-esha,Digital,Powerhouse,Peter lee and a grip of others...yep,that's right,Lucid Music will be at a rave...I'm really looking forward to this one!...also May 28Th we'll be performing with Stillborn Identity ( finally!)we were supposed to get down with him awhile back and a few shows fell through but it looks like its on now.....more details as we get em...
For the past couple months we have been posting about an upcoming collab between us and producer nomak...well unfortunately it won't be happening...I was going to get into all the details about how he approached us and we went out of our way only to have him go back on his word and play us but you know what?

not us...so we remixed the track with our own "signature sound" (haha get it?..probably not but trust me,that's funny) and even though the nomak version was dope,this version is ten times better and we'll be giving it away for FREE very soon...industry rule # 4080...

So our California tour has been postponed for the time being.Not because no venues were answering our emails like our last attempt...no,actually good lookin out to our friend Cole for hooking us up with multiple west coast venues...apparently if you want to pull off a tour at some point you're going to need some money..oooh, about that...seriously though,we're in the middle of buying some new equipment to step our live shows up and as it turns out,we couldn't afford both the trip and the new gear...we figured the gear was more important right now and we want to do things properly and put on the best show we can...Cali,we'll be seeing you in the future...you too stacks t.v....
speaking of shows,we got a few coming up...April 2nd@ Gooski's(pgh) is Triangle & Rhino's release party for their new album,"Fuckin Howdy"...I really like these guys...hella cool and mega talented...we'll be on deck along with Lightweight,RJ Myato and maybe White Guilt...more details as we get em...
April 16Th is the date for an event called Where It's At vol 2 (pgh)...also performing will be Blockhead,Ill Esha and Mc Joe Mousepad,Digital,Powerhouse,Evasion,Nice Nate and Agent Smith vs Etch...and that's just the main stage...c'mon out there are a bunch of acts and I think it's all going down at the Irish Center..I think...we'll let ya know for sure..

sup folks? first off I'd like to give a shout out to Urbnet.com for the feature they posted about lucid music.If you ain't up on them its a real cool website that supports indie hiphop and a good place to go if you're in the market for some new material by creative artists..good lookin out...also much respect to the staff over at realhiphopforever.com for everything they've done for us...check em out for sure,they just released a mixtape called "oracles of truth" and it features some new joints by some hiphop vets as well as local artists( and a little something from lucid music)...thanks again for exposing the invisible band...
Speaking of exposure,we finished up writing for our upcoming collab with producer Nomak...not sure when his album is coming out but we'll keep you posted on the whens and wheres...we're still working on our own album...got the title,artwork idea and release party location pretty much worked out..now just gotta finish a little writing and recording...
In the meantime we're gonna try and keep things rolling with unreleased songs here and there we got from the archives...check the soundcloud and youtube page...most of it is for free download...also just posted up a song called "suicide doors" from a side project called WING KONG TRADING COMPANY featuring myself and Docjeezy aka Johnny Lawrence...its off an upcoming as of yet untitled ep...also look for MKV to get down on the remix...

What up kids? Thanks to everybody who came out last Friday to the rockroom in support of our friend Bobby Porter.Actually,shout out to the entire pgh punk scene for showing lucid music love over the years..y'all know whats up!...
So after Bobby passed,we as well as alot of other folks naturally volunteered to play if a tribute show was to be planned and I'm glad one was organized...It was a two night event and we were set for Friday along with Sticky and Grand snafu..it was a little weird for Dr Jones as we stepped into the venue because apparently 10 years ago the venue was under the name warsaw tavern,a place where he had thrown a couple of battles...the last time Jones was heard/seen on a mic freestyling...we of course informed him he could relive his emcee glory days that night but aside from a profanity fueled tribute rant about how Bobby once threw a kazoo at him mid performance,he opted to let me and Marcus handle mic duties...
We had planned to pull out some new material and remixes but due to some tech problems at the crib we put together a quick set of lm standards...shit got rocked!..as usual when we get down at a non hiphop spot at first we got a few weird looks but the show got ripped and the cute girl in charge of booking let us know afterwards that the tough rockroom crowd had been won over...score one for hiphop!!..hopefully other hiphoppers will come through in the future and represent as well...the city can always use another outlet for us,right?
Now I apologize in advance for not knowing which band was which since introductions weren't really made but everybody rocked it and I'm sure Bobby would have approved...my personal highlight of the night was a dope ass cover of the clash's "guns of brixton"...I heard Dana playing the bass line during sound check and halfway through their set I made the request...they really nailed it too...so thanks again to the bands and the crowd for the great time...nice turnout considering h.r. from bad brains was also performing in pgh that night...except for that one dude and his girl ice grilling us after we got done with the set,it was all love..they probably weren't expecting to hear hiphop that night,especially if it didn't sound like gucci,waka flocka or any of those other jerk offs that everyone seems to like...personally I'd rather scoop my own eyes out with a spoon than listen to that shit but whatever,to each his own...I'm not a hater,just a grown man who has opinions...
on to other news,we're working on some big things for the summer...overseas collaborations,maybe a trip to Japan,some west coast shows... more to be announced so stay tuned...

and finally on a sad note,we just found out that our good friend,Bobby Porter,has passed away.For all y'all involved in the pgh music scene you know him as the frontman for The Short Dark Strangers...He was probably one of the most interesting people I had the pleasure of getting to know...mad talented and a gifted performer...Bobby always believed in us and we performed regularly with him for years...actually it was Bobby and the Strangers who first booked us for the Smiling Moose and 31st Pub back in 2005...He will be missed for sure!!

I love Youngstown...seriously...we had a great time in September and we felt pretty good about being invited back out October 3rd to the Lemon Grove Cafe...I'm telling you,this is becoming one of my favorite venues by far...it's got a really cool vibe and I can't find any fault in it...Great staff and service,professional sound,eclectic atmosphere...Ohio is really lucky to have a spot like this...once again this show was a free event and Youngstown took full advantage by packing the place...joining us on stage again was our man dj Ludo and Baker...also on the bill were local acts Gattino,$kalez muhnee,Jzalez,Kenny ali and Streetz ishu...short sets kept the transition from act to act smooth and everybody did their thing...Dr Jones opened our set with a little imperial march that got a good response from star wars nerds(lucid music being first class star wars nerds ourselves)...we pulled out some unreleased material,remixes and non album cuts to keep it fresh...thanks to everybody who came out to support and it was nice to see alot of new fb friends who had seen us last time we were at the Grove...we had to break out earlier than last time due to some early next day commitments but overall,it was a dope show...and as a side note,I don't know if theres something in the water or what but Youngstown is home to a large amount of beautiful women...every girl in the place was top shelf...just another reason why Youngstown gets the thumbs up!...
yesterday Marcus and I recorded vocals for a new track produced by 8 Trac from the UK...available very soon for free download...the production is refreshing and different which is why we wanted to get down on it...actually we have been sitting on the beat for awhile but never had the time til now...just a little something while we continue work on the upcoming album...
another side note...apparently I can't pronounce the words "the" and "success" when one follows the other...

The Lemon Grove Cafe in Youngstown Ohio has invited us back out for another show Oct 1st...we're hella excited to come back to a spot that showed us so much love...I'm pretty sure our homie Dj Ludo will be spinning again and we'll be sharing the stage with our new friend Baker along with some local acts...more details to be announced...
Also Lucid Music will be performing @Cemetery Gates in WV Oct 16Th...again more details as soon as we get'em...
Dr Jones will be showcasing a little down tempo @ The Z Lounge Oct 14Th in Pgh along side Keebs and Johnny Jitters...Its always dope to catch Jones on the ones and twos so be sure to check for that...as you may have guessed,more details to be announced...

Waking up this morning after returning home from Lucid Music's debut at the Lemon Grove Cafe in Ohio,I can only say one thing...I love Youngstown!...really...We got out there around 7pm and met up with our homie Ralph aka Dj Ludo who let us kick it at his crib before hitting the venue...The Lemon Grove Cafe is a cool spot that provided the perfect scenario for an out of town band...it reminded me of Pittsburgh's Quiet Storm if i had to compare it to some place...the walls were decorated with local art and we could tell that the owner and staff really supported Youngstown's creative community...very refreshing to see...also refreshing to see monitors and a pretty good sound system on stage...you should have seen Marcus's face when he realized that we would have not one,not two but THREE monitors at our disposal!!...we weren't scheduled to go on til about 11:30 so we hung out and did the usual Lucid Music pre show ritual...discussing our favorite family guy episodes and Dave Chappelle routines...around 10pm Dj Ludo aka Micheal Knight(check his car you'll see what I mean) got things started on the ones and twos...dude is CLEAN on the wheels...cuts and juggles on point...people started pouring in...when it was all said and done,about two hundred people were chilling and there was still plenty of elbow room...easily our biggest out of town crowd so far...11:30 rolls around...we do a mic check and proceed to get down and I would just like to say thanks to the great Lemon Grove crowd...we dropped "invisible" and nobody looked at us like we had just landed our spaceship from Pluto...much love was shown throughout the entire set...next up was local Youngstown hero Baker who got down to business accompanied by a live band...he rocked the mic with a mix of hiphop and punk songs...closing out the night was Dr Goo...due to some of us having to work the next day we had to dip a little early and unfortunately missed his set but honestly,this is a city and venue that we plan on coming back to...
All and all,it was a great night...thanks to all the acts for sharing the stage,thanks to the Lemon Grove staff for taking care of us and allowing us to perform,thanks to Youngstown for coming out to show SO MUCH love,thanks to all of y'all that bought cds, and of course Dj Ludo for handling business the way it should be handled...that's how you put a show together!!!...okay,I think I'm going back to bed...PEACE!!!

heeyyyy hoooo aight? sorry,i was channeling a little Dougie fresh just now..so the re release of the invisible album is out now and we would like to thank EVERYBODY for showing love and support! a special shout out to the indiethink.com staff for choosing us as one of their handpicks of the week.that's awesome and i can't front,it feels pretty good.lyrics born once described the hiphop industry as a "game of inches" and that's the truth.thanks to everybody who copped the album and left a review...in the meantime we're hard at work on the new project and just from the little I've heard i think its gonna be heat...and a mixtape or at least a new track(not from the upcoming album) might be along the way...available for free download...

here's a quick update for y'all...September 3rd lucid music will be performing in Youngstown Ohio at a spot called the Lemon Grove...we've been laying low show wise lately just because we've been busy working on the new album...and oh yeah the million and one venues we hit up haven't got back at us yet...we'll be sharing the stage with MC Baker,Dr Goo and our homie DJ Ludo will be on the ones and twos...if Youngstown is the spot you call home then c'mon doowwwwwnnn like Richard Dawson!!...its a free show so what have ya got to lose??...its gonna be a good time,trust me!...
also apparently root70lounge,our distribution label via Japan,is organizing a tour featuring the root7olounge roster...details are still up in the air but from what we were told it's going down like this....a few east coast dates,sometime in March,ummm...okay that's all i know but as soon as i get the lowdown I'll definitely share the news...all i can say is YES!!..finally a chance to tour...we've been trying to hook one up ourselves for quite some time now( see first paragraph about a million and one venues etc)...
and last but never least,we finally came up with a name for the new album...its gonna be called "ROCK IT SCIENCE"...when you hear the songs,that title will make complete sense...maybe...

what up everybody? just wanted to let y'all know that august 17th is the release date for our bombhiphop debut of "adventures of the invisible band-redux"...available for worldwide download on i-tunes...this new version of the album will feature the original cover art and song sequence and also contains two new remixes by dj adamatic and rockpound...pop on over to root70lounge.com for all our other albums...
the new album is coming along nicely...me and marcus actually got together today and went over a few verses...still deciding on an album title but that will be coming very shortly...i wanted to call it "bitches,guns and drugs" but for some strange reason the fellas didn't like that idea...oh well I'll suggest it again for a mixtape or something...we also have been talking about putting a little something something together for free download in the meantime...we got a bunch of material lying around that didn't make any of the albums...if we do actually hook up a mixtape it won't be like all these other corny mixtapes...it will actually be MIXED by a real DJ and you can expect plenty of cuts on it...

what up kids? below is a bit from our last show at howlers...just something we do at live shows in between actual songs...for lack of a better name its referred to as the lucid music medley...that night was very carefree hence the giggling during verses...when marcus rhymes its the rest of the crew's duty to make him laugh and vice versa during my verses...still working on how to make stephen laugh while cutting...in the meantime here's some updates...writing has begun for the new album...most of the beats have been picked out and they're HEAT if you ask me...expect something different this time around compared to the last album...lyric wise,you know how we get down and of course be on the lookout for another dj track...no hiphop record is complete without one...we picked a winner for our remix contest...his name is rockpound from Germany...he put a twist on "bringin it back" and along with adamatic's remix of "instant love" it will be featured on our upcoming deluxe version of "adventures of the invisible band"...available for digital download on bombhiphop records coming soon...thanks to everyone who submitted...a new logo and t shirts are also on the way...until next time...may the force be with you and these aren't the droids you're looking for...PEACE!!

all right...or should i say aight??...thats me getting my hiphop on...so we just left howlers coyote cafe after killing it on a warm sat night...perfect night for a show...the turnout was pretty good considering that there were a bunch of shows going on tonight..half of which are our friends bands!!..all good though...plenty of people in the city,enough for all of us to share when it comes to a crowd right?..the sound at howlers was awesome as it always is...we went on first which is a bit of a change up for us but it actually worked in our favor...dr jones set the night off with a dope set of funky 45's...its a treat to listen to him dj cuz not only are his crates tasty,he knows what to play and when...i brought him some vinyl out of my personal collection to play that he ended up stealing hahaha...can't trust those vinyl guys...next up was like trains and taxis and after that dreamjob took the stage...they were a fill in for the slant who backed out of the show without telling anyone...not the way to keep it cool with a venue by the way but i guess thats how some bands handle business...we had a short but fresh impromptu set...lots of laughing in between songs and i almost tripped over some cords...betsey saw it and i'm assuming everyone else did too...don't worry folks i'm sure one of us will be taking a header sooner or later which should add to the physical comedy part of the show...props to marcus for not laughing during so amazing even though me and stephen tried our hardest to make it happen...i wasn't so lucky during the truth pt 3...some live sound footage should be up shortly... not of me laughing but of us actually rockin it...okay back to working on the new album..check back here for the latest...peace!! oh and once again,thanks to jo, mark and everybody at howlers who came out and enjoyed the show!

whats the deal everybody? we just got back into town after our Davis & Elkins college show in WV..the drive went alot smoother this time compared to the Chicago adventure i.e. we didn't get lost...okay we did miss a turn but in our defense the street was not mentioned in our directions but the school dean Scott met up with us and everything was straight...the campus was awesome and it looks like a great place for an education...i don't think the students we saw were used to seeing three cats with baseball caps turned backwards and tattoos but hey,isn't college all about meeting new and different people? soundcheck wasn't til 7:45pm so we killed time in the Cadillac daddy cafe having a very indepth discussion about our favorite chappelle's show episodes...met with our man on campus Geoff who was responsible for us getting booked during a heated round of pool...stephen was getting his tom cruise color of money on...we got to the performance area and waited for our slot...it started to rain but that worked in our favor by keeping the crowd from leaving...not to mention the students who saw us earlier realized those three weirdos were up to something..after a small technical issue with a cable or two we jumped into things around 11:30pm...it was the first time we ever used cordless mics and the sound was dope...shit got rocked...we dedicated the show to guru and represented hiphop lovely...after killing it with an ill scratch display stephen got from behind the decks and me and him proceeded to see if we could make marcus laugh in the middle of his verses...he kept his composure hahaha...then they turned around and did the same to me!!...basically we had a great time on stage by having fun and not being all serious (you know like a gritty keep it real true hiphop crew is supposed to do)and rocked it.shout out to Geoff and his boys for bringing a crowd and showing us love...i was told there was some performance footage taken that we will put up shortly...thanks to the student body for braving the rain...they weren't ready(ya know that joke will always be funny to me)for what was in store but like denzil said,"they gonna get an education today!"...in short,a great show and we had a blast doing it...next show is May 15Th at Howlers with new jersey act like trains for taxis and pgh band the slant...this is also the first pgh show featuring the return of dr jones...so stay tuned and a special shout out to the grown men in front wearing children's white belly shirts and tight girl jeans in WV who enjoyed our set so much....thats a really good look,keep it up! peace...

what up everybody? we just wanted to share some great news...we have a new manager by the name of Dave Paul...thats right Dave Paul of bombhiphop records...if your up on your hiphop history than you know what time it is and all i can say is that we're hella excited to be working with him...we're looking forward to this partnership and learning from a veteran about the ins and outs of this industry...bombhiphop records will be re releasing our album "the adventures of the invisible band" so be on the lookout for that for digital download...more details coming soon...also work on our 5Th album has begun...no official title as of yet but we've got a few ideas that we're kicking around the office... expect something different from the invisible album but just as fresh...correction even more fresh...lucid music would like thank Dave for believing in us and our plan is to uphold the tradition of ground breaking music that he's known for delivering...thanks to everybody who's been supporting us by coming out to the shows and downloading our music...i can't tell you how special you are to us...without y'all we would not have come as far as we have...so in the mean time we got a few shows coming up...may 1st in West Virginia at Davis & Elkins college( what up Geoff? thanks for the hook up!!) and May 15Th in Pittsburgh at Howlers coyote cafe(performing with like trains for taxis(new jersey) and the slant)...another eclectic mix of music for the night...stay tuned for more news...plenty of big things in the works...think "remixes"...peace!!!

April 15Th was our debut in Chicago at the darkroom and let me just say it was an experience i will never forget...we hit the road around 7am and had a flawless journey to chi town...that is until we got off the freeway and my expert driving skills got us lost for about 3 hours..after asking for directions and being thoroughly confused we finally found the venue thanks to Marcus's trusty i-phone...Chicago is an interesting place with a variety of people whose different ethic backgrounds mesh yet are segregated from block to block...latin,black,asian, and white people all getting along with each other,free to express their cultures...the darkroom is a really dope spot...it reminded us of club cafe in Pittsburgh...its located in a neighborhood called the Ukrainian village...and by the way Ukrainian women are hella beautiful...anyway the dark room had great sound,a cool soundguy and we were like two kids waking up on Christmas morning when we saw monitors on stage...a rare treat for us...everything was going smooth for an out of town show which I'm constantly told by our friends who have toured alot is not always the case...a real cool cat by the name of Ruin,the headliner's dj and spin doctor for the evening, filled us in about the kind of crowd we could expect and about chi town's local scene which mirrored Pittsburgh in a way...as always the show started later than planned and by the time we got on stage it was in full effect...a decent sized crowd filled the floor...the first act was a rock band called manDROID which set the night off lovely...we went on next and needless to say,ripped shit in typical lucid music fashion...i always like to look at the faces of a crowd who aren't quite sure what to expect when we jump into our song,"invisible"...when the drums kick in i feel like I'm about to take off in a rocket ship and the crowd looks like they've watching aliens...aliens that know how to rock a mic,that is...30 minutes and a few sold "adventures of the invisible band"Cd's later the headliner,billa camp, hit the stage and put on "quite a show",performing songs from his new mix tape...he had a live drummer with him...that was cool and not seen too often at a hiphop show...now after driving for about 10 hours we were pretty exhausted so we snatched a few posters off the venue walls(for the archives) and decided to call it a night...a young dark room patron thanked us for providing her with some real hiphop which made the endless driving,expensive toll booths and roach infested hotel with the door less community bathroom all worth while...oh i almost forgot...on the way back to Pittsburgh we got lost(again) and ended up driving another 10 hours(this time it can be blamed on lack of sleep instead of being an idiot)...but that's okay because along with having another out of town show under our belts we had this to keep our spirits high...Dave Paul,owner of bombhiphop records,is now our new manager!! that's right,you read that correctly...more details soon and up next...April 23Th in Rochester New York@ dubland undergound...

what up my people? i can't front its been kinda busy lately...we've been having some transportation issues that have made performing more of a choir than it should be but hey,the show must go on...SAT 20th we wrapped up our trilogy show with triangle & rhino at howlers...seven years war also represented and it was good time..thanks to all who came out..we saw quite a few heads that we haven't seen in a long ass time..quote of the night: "damn,i didn't know zack could get down like that!!" we were very impressed with seven years war.hella dope and of course t&r rocked it like usual..
MON 22nd at the shadow lounge was our chance to open up for a hiphop legend by the name of 2mex...sahtyre of project blowed and LA jae of shapeshifters were also on the bill...to get to the point this was a real hiphop show for a mere 5 bucks which is pretty much next to free...yet there was only a few in attendance..really?...normally i'm not one to complain about people coming out to support and what not but honestly i was a little disappointed with Pittsburgh that night...its not too often you get to see seasoned performers like 2mex for so cheap...i wasn't expecting thousands of people or anything but c'mon folks..it was a bit embarrassing and i doubt it left a good impression on our west coast guests...especially since so many rsvp'ed the event on facebook...whatever,y'all missed out on some dope shit..real dj's with turntables( remember those?) were in the house...LA jae and lucid music's own dr.jones cut it up nice...i don't understand it.there was plenty of promotion by noble destro and his boys so whats the deal Pittsburgh? isn't everyone always talking about "lets build,lets support the scene,c'mon on out" ??? sure there was a little rain but other than that it was a beautiful night,the first we've had in awhile...
i'm not bitching because no one came out to see lucid music..weather its a full house or empty chairs,we're gonna rock it regardless...thats just part of the business...i just wish there had been a little more support for 2mex and co. the guys been paying dues and killing it for years...
on the brighter side of things...
lucid music is hitting the road for our next 3 shows..april 15th in Chicago,april 23rd in new york and may 1st in west Virginia...very excited,especially about the wv show...its at a college and the crowd should be pretty big..maybe the biggest we've ever had...more details to be announced...

three days

what up? so we've just had three days worth of shows which was cool...it was nice to perform every night...thursday was our sit in session with triangle and rhino featuring luke live on the air at WRCT...matt and jake covered two lucid songs (three twenty and high noon) and we provided vocals...which is easier than it sounds cuz triangle and rhino just happen to be the loudest band in the city..i'm not kidding..and the funny thing is,there's only TWO of them...we figured it out though...had to perform with headphones on...jake's soon to be brother in law (is that the right title?) is making a documentary about art and was filming the session..word..
friday night was our show with pancake and the pump fakes at the 31st pub..haven't been there since 2005...it was also mad snow coming down that was stopping most of the city from travelling...funny story about this show..we booked pancake for our gooski's show on sat and they asked if we would like to perform at the pub on friday..i remember saying let me "confirm it" with marcus...we didn't get back at them and we never heard from pancake about it...long story short we didn't know we were booked til like a day before...so what,we were looking forward to getting on the mic..all good though pancake is made up of really cool people,some of whom we know from the short dark strangers,a band that has helped us out alot in this city...
pancake even provided us with transportation cuz marcus was having car issues...thanks guys...like i said there wasn't much of a crowd but shit got rocked regardless...pancake is about to tour overseas and has some vinyl coming out..thats whats up,we're hella happy for them...speaking of vinyl,anyone want to press us up? anyone? hello? is this thing on? ok whatever..
saturday night at gooski's with pancake and triangle and rhino...nice crowd...definitely got ripped or at least moderately torn...theres some footage up on youtube...it was good to see alot of people i hadn't seen in awhile...gooski's is a cool spot to play,i'm glad we got the chance..thanks to everybody who braved the weather and came out..

whats up y'all..heres a heads up on a few shows...FEB 25th WRCT 88.3 its a live show..its actually a triangle and rhino live show but we'll be sitting in on a couple of jams...t&r will be covering "threetwenty" and "high noon"...its gonna be live so who knows what will go down but it will def be worth listening to...FEB 27th@ Gooski's with triangle and rhino and pancake...MARCH 22nd@ the shadow lounge we'll be opening up for 2mex..theres an interesting story behind hooking that show up...okay its not so much interesting as it is some drama but whatever...its going down!!...dj noetik and noble destro will also be in the house providing dj support...MARCH 20th@ Howlers coyote cafe with seven years war and...u guessed it triangle and rhino!!...its a trilogy...

what up?? sorry we've been neglecting the blog but i just bought a computer of my own so from now on this will stay current...not that anybodys reading this or that i have hella exciting news but whatever...so we have started putting tracks together for album number 5..no title as of yet...just a bunch of beats and random verses but it ought to be dope...different than the last album but we've tried to do that with every album...still gonna hit you with the boom bap beats and fluid rhymes...we've recently purchased some new equipment to produce and record with...we'll be handling the production of course as always...as far as shows well you know thats what we're about so we got a few things lined up locally and out of state...chi-town, new york and a few other places..that is if they ever return our emails..its all good though..we won't let that stop us from setting up a tour...no booking agent as of yet so its all on us...if you live in the pittsburgh area then come on out to GOOSKI'S SAT 27 FEB...we'll be performing with pancake and our homies triangle and rhino...the first time hiphop has been performed there from what i know besides the legendary dreadnots...t&r will be joining us on a few lucid music songs so it should be pretty dope...we'll also be performing them live on WRCT 88.3 THURSDAY 9PM FEB 25.it will be a split set between us and t&r...you can listen to the broadcast on the web...we'll be at our homebase HOWLERS COYOTE CAFE MARCH 20 SAT with seven years war...another act to be announced..um what else..marcus's solo album should be out next month so check it...warren and dj dr jones are still working on the wing kong trading company album so check that too..also dj jones is featured on the new RETURN OF THE DJ comp...out now...track listing number one...thats right...check the myspace page for the out of town lucid dates and i think thats it for now...PEACE!

what up...i don't know if anybody even reads these blogs but a couple of blogs ago i mentioned something about a lucid music song being featured in an upcoming movie...well last week the director,Walt Mancing,called me up to thank us for allowing him to use the track...so i guess it is true and the song "showtime", off ''the adventures of the invisible band'' album, will be in a film called AMERICAN MACHO BUDDHA...very cool...the film will be premiering SATURDAY OCT 17th at 7pm @ CRANBERRY CINEMAS in CRANBERRY TOWNSHIP...i have no idea what the film is about ...i'm looking forward to hearing a lucid music song on the big screen...its a small indie film shot in pittsburgh..thats all i know so if your in the area and you support indie projects then come on out SAT OCT 17TH...there will be a screening party afterwards at bar louie right next door so check it..also last friday during our show at howlers we filmed a segment for the upcoming video which is oddly enough for ''showtime''...i haven't seen any footage yet but we're lucky enough to be working with a cool bunch of professional guys...tonight we're filming a few more scenes at my crib...i apologize in advance for the mess...and finally all you dj's and vinyl cats out there should know about BOMB HIP HOP's ''RETURN OF THE DJ '' compilation series...vol 6 is about to be released in december and the first track is ''BUSINESS AS USUAL'' by former lucid music/current wing kong trading co. dj DR.JONES...or you can just call him stephen...you might remember the track off the lucid music ep ''THEY'RE NOT READY" which is the first lucid project stephen appeared on...congrats to him cuz this is BIG...only the illest of the ill are featured on return of the dj albums...thats whats up...we're proud of him,that cat deserves alot more props than he gets...hence the ''invisible'' concept but thats another blog for another time...heres a link...http://www.bombhiphop.com/rotdj.html... i talked with stephen last night and he told me that bomb hip hop is making ''business as usual ''a free download very soon if not already so check it out...i'm out,may the force be with you all...

aug 29th,project updates and sept 25th

sat aug 29th we were back in town to share the stage with our good friends debutante.i always enjoy rockin with them cuz it seems that when we're both on the bill,it will be a crazy night of eclectic music...which it was...josh from debutante is hella cool and jen is well,shes jen..a helluva voice and pretty easy on the eyes...they always put on a good show...i'm sure we'll be performing with the duo again in the future..the other acts,Patricia wake and voila formica, were pretty dope too.all the acts featured female vocals and had powerful voices...the venue was this little restaurant called club envy in garfield...the turnout wasn't that big but those who attended enjoyed the show...or maybe they didn't i don't know but i had fun doing it so who cares...we were supposed to have a poison free show in beaver falls earlier the same day but it got cancelled due to weather...that sux...
MKV'S solo project is almost done...i've been sitting in on the recording sessions and it sounds pretty good...expect a different vibe production wise as marcus wanted to branch out and try something new which i think more hiphop needs to do...material for warren and dr jone's project,THE WING KONG TRADING COMPANY, is currently being written...again expect something different...for more info on these projects check our individual myspace pages...mkv has got some tracks from his solo effort up...
lucid music has also begun putting tracks together for album number 5...right now we're just picking out beats and writing...as with all lucid albums we're gonna try and keep it sounding different then the last although i'm pretty proud of the last one...the best one so far if you ask me...
and THANKS TO EVERYONE THAT'S BEEN DOWNLOADING LUCID MUSIC THESE PAST COUPLE OF MONTHS...it means alot to all of us..thanks to all of you overseas...now we don't look so bad to the distribution label...just kidding...root70lounge has proven they have our back and we're grateful for the opportunity to be apart of their roster...

just kidding it wasn't like that...i just like that title and its a pretty good movie if u haven't seen it yet...so lucid music left for ny at 4am...the greyhound was in our budget and yes the 9 hour drive sucked...u see the most insane people when u go greyhound for real...we got to ny around 3pm and had mad time to kill before sound check at 6pm...we got to the lower village area and had a few slices of ny pizza before arriving at the venue,Webster hall.this place is huge with about 4 floors for performances...the most high profile venue we've ever been in so far...we chilled for an hour til the promoter got there and had a sound check...the sound was cool but unfortunately the promoter booked the only room WITHOUT monitors so none of the acts were going to be able to hear themselves...no big deal we've dealt with it before we'll be dealing with it again...so the night gets started and the turnout was not what the promoter expected(there was a 25 dollar cover at the door and only Internet promotion so that might have had something to do with it).it was only the acts and about fifteen people most of whom were part of the promoters team...again who cares we've played to plenty of empty chairs and ashtrays before...the first two acts go on then we hit the stage...halfway through the set we noticed a bunch of people piling in...there were multiple shows going on at Webster hall that night and i think that after a certain time all rooms are open to everyone cuz next thing we know the place is packed!...then halfway through our second to last song the music got cut off..i don't know who was responsible cuz they never came forward to explain themselves...next thing we know the first two acts are back on stage performing the exact same material during their first sets...as far as we were told we would be closing out the night..true we agreed to do a twenty min set and we probably went over our time by a few minutes but what did it matter since we were closing and now there was a huge crowd?? ...we did it free of charge and endured a 9 hour bus ride to get there so we felt that a few extra minutes wouldn't be a big deal..apparently it was...i don't know if the other performers felt like they didn't get a chance to shine in front of a crowd so they had something else to prove or what but it was unprofessional the way it was handled...we weren't upset about it...lucid music represented hiphop and root70lounge lovely that night and our sound brought the crowd in...so we ripped shit then headed back to the bus station to leave around 3am that morning...i'm not even gonna comment on the idiots we had to ride with...people were cutting in front of others who had been waiting in line to get on the bus for hours...damn,is it that serious...quite a few honeys blew their finesse acting ugly..especially this one broad from philly...she cut in front of everybody and then had the nerve to say "oh does the line start back there? i didn't know that!''....brilliant deduction sherlock,yes the line starts back there...or did you not notice the 50 people and their luggage who were standing in front of and behind you??? ...FALL BACK ...the bus driver looked so bothered about the way people were acting he seemed to consider driving us off a bridge..i don't blame him...that what i would have done right after jumping out of the driver side window...so anyway i'm glad we got a chance to perform at Webster hall...the set got ripped...another experience on the road...looking forward to plenty of more but next time we're gonna fly or at least take the train,t-t-take the train...PEACE

submitted for your approval...imagine that you are booked for an out of town show.imagine that you performed there once before and got a great response.now imagine that the promoter is m.i.a. and that no promotion has been done.imagine that no one,not the venue staff or even the other act, knows what exactly is going on.imagine that since the promoter hasn't contacted you or returned your calls you probably won't be getting any kind of payment.finally, imagine that you find all of this out AFTER you have driven 5 hours to the venue...
its over now so it's no big deal but things were mad unorganized.that didn't stop the spot from getting rocked of course...eastern suns put on a pretty good show...they shed some light on what you can expect from out of town shows...the dj who got left holding the bag and in charge of the night let us know we'd get paid something but we had to wait til about 2am to get it...we had to wait anyway cuz somebody blocked our car in...another car got blocked in and the blockee pissed on it ...immature yes but also entertaining...thankfully the venue owner knew who blocked us in so were eventually able to bounce...he also hooked us up with some $$$ so we could make it back home...i think there was alot going on between the venue and promoter and unfortunately the acts paid the price...it goes to show you that you never know whats going to happen on the road so hope for the best and prepare for the worst...
it wouldn't have been so bad but we had to drive back that same night for an afternoon show in beaver.did i mention it was a 5 hour drive? we were scheduled to go on around 2:30.we made it back to pittsburgh at 7am...then left for beaver at 12:30.it was a free in the park concert and 5k mile run sponsored by POISONFREE.ORG.after a few sound problems we got up and did our thing for the crowd.i may have forgotten a lyric here or there but thats what 3 hours of semi sleep will do for ya...it was hella cool though.Brooks, the cat who runs poisonfree, is a good guy and he is down to support his community.it was all to sponsor some kids in need and it was a great event that i'm proud to have been a part of.you know how lucid music does it...its for the kids and free t-shirts ...which we got.the scenery put me in the mood for grilled chicken and garlic mashed potatoes( marcus and stephen,can i get a witness?? you know what i mean baby!!)

the entire weekend in that car was made tolerable by marcus's zoom loaded up with classic material "...diamond in the back,sunroof top,diggin the scene with the gangsta lean,gangsta white walls..." now thats real cruisin music...PEACE

jamestown new york and other news

so we got back from Jamestown around 5am.the spot we performed at was called mojos and it was hella dope.we had a great experience there and the response was pretty good.thanks to the staff and all the local cats who showed us love in their city.we will def be going back out there.i guess we were the first hiphop to perform at mojos which is hella cool...hopefully we opened some doors and other acts will follow suit and start booking shows there.the sound was pretty good and its a small cozy spot so the performances are in your face.the bartender was really hot too.she looked like jessica alba! lucid music would like to thank the staff at mojos and everyone who came out to support...one other interesting thing about Jamestown..word( their version of the city paper) wrote a little paragraph about our upcoming show and the writer showed up to check us out live.good lookin out!! thats funny...a complete stranger who has never heard/met us took the time to not only write about the show but attend himself...4 YEARS OF PERFORMING LOCALLY,4 ALBUM RELEASES AND NO MENTION OF LUCID MUSIC IN THE CITY PAPER, an outlet that "claims" to support the local art and music scene...whats up with that??
we're really looking forward to an upcoming show in new york at a venue called webster hall which is pretty major.i didn't realize just how big it was til i checked it out.this will probably be our biggest show yet.we'll put up more details when we get em...

what up...thanks to everybody who came out to howlers last week on the 11th...we enjoyed ourselves and i think everybody who was there had a good time...thanks to the smiling moose bartenders and chico for sticking around cuz we were the last to go on.good looking out to the out of town band,Cool kid collective, for rockin the spot with an unexpected sound.they did a cover of tools "sober" which was on point.it was crazy cuz thats one of my all time favorite songs and its been a minute since i've heard it..hopefully we'll be able to come out to north carolina and share a hometown stage with them...
good things are in the works with our poisonfree.org partnership..." showtime" from our latest album "adventures of the invisible band",which you can pick up from i-tunes, might be appearing in an independent film this fall...thats just the word on the street so who knows...stay tuned for details if and when it happens...
new york has been good to us so far so we're looking forward to all the empire state dates...things went so well in rochester ny James invited us back out in july to perform with eastern suns...friends we have yet to meet but are responsible for helping set up all these out of town gigs...we're looking forward to gettin down with them...okay,thats it for now PEACE!!

so last night was our second out of town show at a spot called dubland underground in rochester,new york.honestly,it was a great time and the rochester hiphop scene showed us nothing but love.the venue itself is on point with a hella cool staff and dope sound.our man James,who handles the venues booking,treated us more like cousins on a family visit than an out of town act.we had a blast and made some friends as well as contacts...we would def love to come back and rock a set...thanks to James,the dubland underground staff and everyone who came out last night.oh yeah resident DJs Tim tones and Fresh fingaz held down the ones and twos lovely....
we ended up driving back about an hour after our set just to get the ride over with.personally i'm surprised i didn't kill us on the way home considering it was 3:30 am with mad fog and no lights and i had been up since 7:30 am.must of been the force guiding me on that one...
so JUNE 11th come on down to howlers cafe to check us out with our friends the short dark strangers and a special out of town guest.gonna be a good time.peace...

okay,bad news first.we are sad to announce that dj jones will no longer be performing with lucid music.these things happen and thats just how business goes.there are ABSOLUTELY NO HARD FEELINGS and we want to thank stephen for his contribution to the group.it was hella fun while it lasted but i guess nothing lasts forever.don't get it twisted though,stephen may not be on stage with us but he is still family.don't be surprised if you hear warren's vocals on an upcoming dj jones project.i guess this means our last two albums are collecters items (yeah i said it) so be sure to hit up i-tunes and download " THEY'RE NOT READY" and " THE ADVENTURES OF THE INVISIBLE BAND". as for lucid music, its back to business and we're gonna keep on keeping on...

on a lighter note,our last show as a trio was at the prevention network, a school for at risk youth sponsered by POISONFREE.ORG. i don't think the kids were ready( get it? not ready..i got a million of em folks) for our type of style but for the most part it went well.they're probably more into lil wayne but they seemed open to the positive message we dropped on'em...halfway through the set we passed the mic to a couple of the kids who were aspiring emcees...they got a better crowd response then us!!! it was all love and we felt pretty good about the show.good lookin out to brooks for capturing the event on film so we should have some footage of it up soon...lucid music,we do it for the kids and free t-shirts

Since before we finished the new album we were planning on setting up a tour.the actual plan changed a number of times due to certain people frontin...first it was gonna be a month of shows in london,then it was supposed to be a month of shows in the united states...to make a long story short,its hard to find good help so we set up our own dates.its not really a tour,its more like a few venues that said "sure,we'll book you!" which is cool with us since our only out of town experience so far has been detroit...so this summer we're gonna be taking it on the road to places like new york,new jersey,vermont and even texas...how are we pulling this off? don't ask cuz we don't know,we're just excited that we have an opportunity to expose our music to a wider range of people...as far as we know MAY 9TH is out last pgh show before we hit the road...theres one more show after that but its at a school and won't be open to the public...then its off to new york...we'll probably have more pgh shows booked closer to the fall when the weather prevents us from travelling..check the myspace page for dates and locations... if you got any friends/family who live in those areas,let them know whats up with lucid music...PEACE

So marcus lost his voice a few days before the radio gig on 88.3 so instead of performing we just sat around and played the entire new album...show host/house of assassins frontman JB made the experience run smooth along with two other WRCT engineers... stephen was on the 1 and 2s or to be more precise the 1s spinning instrumentals during the convo...it was just a cool night ..you never know who's actually listening but shout out to marcus's family for calling in...i hope everybody who tuned in enjoyed the album...THE ADVENTURES OF THE INVISIBLE BAND will be released on ROOT70LOUNGE april 22nd for download...as always you can pick up the american version from us at shows...speaking of shows, we're in the midst of hooking up a tour right now...if any promoters,booking agents,etc are reading this, do the right thing..BOOK US...okay,PEACE!!!

yo lucid music would like to THANK EVERYONE who came out to the release party at belvederes friday night...because of y'all,it was damn near the perfect show. a special thanks to rezon8 and brian for hooking up the sound and keeping the party live during acts.another shout out to B for holding down the merch table and nolan for the door and a dope dj set to close out the evening.alot of people came out to support and it was really cool to not only see our friends but a good amount of new faces who hadn't ever seen us before.good lookin out to the short dark strangers for warming up the crowd and setting off the night on a good note...we've been performing with dana and the rest of the fellas for a couple of years now...they're actually responsible for bringing lucid music to the smiling moose and now the door has been opened for others to follow suit..they have a hiphop night there now...

so yeah,like i said,everything went well and exceeded our expectations despite that warren had to rap with a runny nose and marcus had to grab the mic to remind everyone that even though you might have tried to sneak in without paying,you STILL HAVE TO PAY,...we sold a good amount of new albums as well as the last album and we FINALLY got rid of the lucid music t-shirts...speaking of t-shirts,i fully expect to see y'all rockin'em throughout the city this summer...a few girls wanted some smaller sizes but trust me,wash em and they WILL shrink..i speak from experience!

"...record company people are shady!" lucid music has severed ties with focotheory management.why you ask? they just weren't the right company for us to be involved with.to make a long story short,we had certain expectations that were not met.we outlined our goals and what we wanted to accomplish out of our business relationship and nothing ever happened.meetings were missed,shows were not booked and there was an annoying lack of communication and endless supply of excuses.had we not had the foresight to take matters into our own hands,we wouldn't even have a cd release party booked!! in the two and a half months we were clients,they never even bothered to see us perform,check out the type of audience we attract or get to know us as artists.it's cool though.even if our time was "wasted"(get it? wasted?) we have no hard feelings toward focotheory and wish them the best...

what up everybody.the carnegie library show went pretty well,thanks to everybody comming out.it was a bit weird performing hiphop at such a quiet place but it went over great and we got a chance to expose ourselves to an crowd who might otherwise not have heard us.thanks to renee for hooking it up and thanks to lisa for taking care of us.it was fun...weird but fun.besides,when are you ever gonna something like that at a library??
by the way,we won't be at howlers cafe tuesday nights anymore as the musical guest during their comedy night due to schedule conflicts.we apoligize to anyone who has been looking to hear us there this past month.we might be hosting our own night there in the near future as soon as we figure out exactly what we want to do(DJs,live acts,drink specials,etc).we will keep you posted.thanks to jo for showing us so much love!!
